Two people from Pierre, South Dakota have died after a single vehicle crash in Mitchell, South Dakota Wednesday afternoon.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said in a release that a 2018 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 between the two Mitchell exits. The vehicle entered the southside ditch, struck a guard cable near the Rowley Street bridge. The vehicle fell onto Rowley street and hit a retaining wall, coming to rest on its side.
The driver and front passenger sustained fatal injuries while two infant passengers in the vehicle suffered only minor injuries. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
The names of the people involved have not been released pending family notification.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
