United Way “Fighting Hunger In Our Community” Food Distribution Delayed 2 Weeks

Tuesday’s planned food distribution in Crawford as part of the United Way of Western Nebraska’s Fighting Hunger in Our Community program has been postponed for two weeks to the 29th.

United Way executive director Karen Benzel says the delay was for one very simple reason: the agency is still waiting for the arrival of some of the food items to be distributed.

Fighting Hunger in Our Community is intended for food insecure families including low-income households and seniors.

The program provides each served household with several complete meals including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products, and non-perishable food items.

This year’s first FIghting Hunger distribution was last month in Chadron. Others are planned for this fall in Alliance, Scottsbluff and other areas throughout Western Nebraska.
