United Way Radiothon Tops $7,000

United Way of Western Nebraska Executive Director Karen Benzel says Thursday’s annual Radiothon fundraiser was a success.

Benzel says $7,015.36 was raised to help fund United Way’s community impact work as well as its nonprofit partners who help families in need across the Panhandle.

The event in the past was carried on just the Scottsbluff-area stations of the Rural Radio Association, but Benzel expanded it this year to all parts of the Panhandle by bringing in Chadrad Communications, KSID in Sidney, and Eagle Communications in Chadron and Alliance.

The volunteer call center and walk-in donation site remained at the Main Street Market in Scottsbluff, but Benzel says all Radiothon donations will be used in the areas where the individual donors live.

United Way of Western Nebraska has an overall campaign goal this year of $400,000 to fund its community impact work as well as its nonprofit partners who help families in need across the Panhandle. Thursday’s Radiothon donations count toward the campaign goal. Â
