
A Celebration of Life for 50-year old Vance Blacksmith will Saturday, Dec 12, 2020 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Rockyford Elementary-Middle School Campus in Rockyford, SD.
A funeral procession to the school will leave the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD, at 1:00 PM.
Vance Wade Blacksmith “Pte Ole Hoksila” was born to Philomene (Blacksmith) Lakota on March 4, 1970 in Pine Ridge, SD. Vance made his journey to the Spirit World on December 2, 2020 at the Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Vance is survived by his son, NuVassie “Danger” Blacksmith of Rockyford, SD; daughter, Samaya Blacksmith of Rockyford, SD; siblings, Muriel Lakota & Family, Teton Lakota & Family, and Aaron Lakota; and grandchildren, Prasayus Lakota and Michaela Hawk.
Vance was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max & Hazel Blacksmith; mother, Philomene (Blacksmith) Lakota; step-father, Zack Lakota; aunts, Vestana Red Ear Horse and Melvina Backs; brother, Alvin Slow Bear; uncle, Wilmer Mesteth; brother, Nason Backs, Jr.; grandpa/uncle, Pete Blacksmith; and hunka mother, Roselyn (Jumping Bull) Holy Rock.
