Vernon Louis Briggs was born on October 8, 1961 in Fort Worth, TX to Edson Briggs and Grace (Good Shield) Briggs. Vernon made his journey to the Spirit World on May 3, 2026 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.
Vernon is survived by his children, Daniel Briggs, Raina Frazier, Kyle Bruner, and Edwin Briggs; siblings, Edson Briggs III of Batesland, SD, Richard Briggs and Robert Briggs both of Eagle Butte, SD, and Shari Briggs-Neigel and Monte Briggs both of Martin, SD; and grandchildren, Gracie Bush, Wanbli Bush, Devonte Bush, Aison Bruner, Axton Bruner, Te’Shauna Collins, Sapphire Frazier, Simon Frazier, Violet Emery, Zenaya Collins, and Heavenly Collins.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father, Edson Briggs II; mother, Grace Good Shield-Briggs; sisters, Maria Rivas Smith and Johnnie Kay Reddy; and brothers, Ira Briggs, Sr. and John Briggs.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Gothridge, Lakota Good Voice Elk, Simon Frazier, Kevin Olson, Raymond Neigel, Jeremiah Briggs II, Malakai Briggs, and LaLa Edwin Briggs.
