Wayne Richard Cobb was born in Gordon on January 26, 1939, to William and Maxine Cobb.

The family moved in 1949 they to the current ranch site and Wayne helped his dad on the ranch while he was growing up. He went to Pioneer School through 8th grade, then attended Gordon High School until he graduated in 1956.

After high school, Wayne attended what is now Colorado State University in Fort Collins for 2 years before returning to the ranch to help his father and start his own herd of Black Angus cattle.

On April 2, 1961, Wayne married the love of his life, Cherrill Dawn DeFrance. They built their forever home later that year and there raised their 3 daughters: Kori, Kim, and Kendra.

Wayne was passionate about ranching and took pride in raising quality Angus Beef. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything he set his mind to.

His interests included: ranching, going to rodeos, dancing, dirt bikes and competing in enduros.  He was a social butterfly and loved talking to people. He loved his sweet tea and cookie breaks, 15 minute power naps, Sudoku, canoeing, homemade candies, and goodies, but his biggest joy was spending time with his family!

Wayne had 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with the 14th on the way. His first great-great-grandson will arrive in September.

Wayne loved the babies; his grand children have always been a very special part of his life. His family would all agree that he was a huge influence in their lives, and he was the glue that kept them all together.

Throughout his life Wayne was an active part of the community serving on several boards and committees including: REA/Hay Springs for 36 years, Tristate/Denver board representative 24 years, Gordon Memorial Hospital Foundation for several years, Merriman Rural Fire Department board member, and the Pioneer School Board for several years.

Wayne was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as an Elder and Deacon, and represented his local church at various Synod/Denver and Presbytery/Plains and Peaks session. He also was a member of the PNC (Pastoral Nominating Committee) and the Property and Finance committee and helped with Youth Group.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maxine Cobb

Wayne is survived by his wife Cherrill, Merriman; children Kori (Tom) Hutchison, Surprise AZ; Kim Cobb Bostock, Gordon; Kendra (Lucas) Bear, Merriman; 10  Grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is also survived by his siblings: Gary Cobb, Fairfax, VA; Rosalyn (David) Parker, Albuquerque, NM: Carolyn (Mike) Wind, Norwalk, CT; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
