Funeral services for 26-year old Micheal Walking are Sat, October 29, 2022 at 1:00 at the 7th Day Adventist Church by #4 Community Payabaya with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating and traditional Lakota services by Darla Black

Burial is at the Cortier Family Cemetery in #4 Community, SD

A two-night wake service starts Thurs, Oct 27, at 2:30 at the 7th Day Adventist Church by #4 Community Payabaya.  

Micheal Wayne Walking was born on July 27, 1996 in Pine Ridge, SD to Stanley Wayne Walking Sr and Tracy Arlette Cortier.  Micheal made his journey to the Spirit World on October 20, 2022 near Oelrichs, SD.

Micheal is survived by his mother Tracy Cortier; father Stanley Walking Sr; children Hayden, Riley, and Khloe Walking; brothers, Stanley Walking Jr and Samson Walking; maternal grandmother Lila Cortier; paternal grandmothe, Lula Walking; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Micheal was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Maynard Cortier; paternal grandfather Richard Walking Sr; maternal great- grandparents, Pearl Red Breath Bear and George Cortier; paternal great grandparents Katherine Janis & Flint Red Feather; cousins Andrea Cortier, Grace Two Hawk, and Melissa Sloan; uncles, Paul Walking, Travis White Dress, and Lester Walking; and niece, Kayelynn Cortier.

Pallbearers will be Trey Walking, Bryan Walking Sr, Anthony Brewer, Jr., Harley Cortier Jr, Jonathan Sounding Side, Eric Swiftwater, Justin Brewer, Daus Rabbit, John Garnier, Jordan Cortier, DJ Cortier, and Robert Rouillard Jr

Honorary pallbearers will be the baseball teams Micheal was part of – Crazy Horse, Oglala Indians, Rockyford Royals, Family Tradition, Wakpamni Lakers, Sni Boys, Red Leaf, LA Warriors, Dream Chasers, Top Guns, The Tribe, Native Express, The Hated, and The Sweepers, the pool teams he was with – Moneyshot Pool Team Members, Hot Shot Pool Team Members, and the Mojo’s Pool Team Members, and All Friends, Relatives, Family, and All Who Knew Him.
