Funeral services for 90-year old Emma Waters are Sat, Jan 1, 2022 at 10:00 at the American Horse School in Allen, SD, with Father Ron Seminara, S.J., officiating and all other religions welcome. All spiritual leaders for traditional Lakota services are also welcome.
Burial is at the Waters Family Cemetery in Allen.
A two-night wake service will be held. The first night starts Thurs, Dec 30, at 1:00 at St John’s Catholic Hall in Allen. The second night starts Friday at noon at the American Horse School in Allen.
Emma Cecelia Waters was born on March 17, 1931 in Allen, SD to Francis Nelson and Lizzie Six Feathers. Emma made her journey to the Spirit World on December 26, 2021 at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin, SD.
Emma is survived by her children, Donna Salomon, Anthony Waters, Raymond Waters, Katherine Waters, Marty Waters, Stephanie (Waters) Yellow Hawk, Nathaniel Waters, Willard John Waters, Dawnna Waters, and Nile Paul Waters; hunka children, Henrietta Sherer, Muriel Lakota, and Roxanne Cottier; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Nelson and Lizzie Six Feathers; spouse, Leroy Waters; grandmother, Josephine Fast Wolf-Six Feathers; children, Brian “Pudd” Waters, Louis Means, Phillip “Wally” Waters, and one child in infancy; aunts, Momma Ida Whirlwind Horse and Momma Doris Six Feathers; and uncle, Albert Six Feathers.
Pallbearers will be all family
Honorary pallbearers will be the American Indian Movement, Katela Society, Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council, Oceti Sakowin Council, Standing Rock Water Protectors, Crazy Horse Riders, Big Foot Riders, All Sundancers, Wild Oglala’s, and All Friends & Relatives.
