Burial is at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery in Oglala.
A one-night wake service starts Wed, Feb 8, at 3:30 at Brother Rene Hall in Oglala with evening services at 7:00.
Floyd Joseph Slow Bear was born on January 9, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Andrew and Mary (Stands) Slow Bear. Floyd made his journey to the Spirit World on January 31, 2023 in Rapid City, SD.
Floyd is survived by his sister Annie Slow Bear-Mills; nieces Kelly, Shelly, & Marissa Mills, Rochelle Running Horse, Paulette & Sheila Slow Bear; nephews Ronald, Andrew II, and Eric Slow Bear, Mareno & John Eder, and Dane Running Horse; cousins Donald & Kimberly Slow Bear, Cynthia & Peter Jr Stands, Henrietta & Happy Stands, Fred & Janet Hubert, Hazel Stands, Corrine Brave, Valarie Janis, Hilda Kills Small, Wesley & Annette Yellow Horse, Brendan Slow Bear, and Drew Slow Bear.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Sr and Mary (Stands) Slow Bear; paternal grandparents John Slow Bear and Martha Holy Pipe; maternal grandparents Silas Stands and Annie LaPointe; siblings Andrew Slow Bear Jr, Benedict Slow Bear, Benjamin Slow Bear, Nellie Slow Bear, Zelma Slow Bear, Philomine Slow Bear, Madonna Eder, and Irma & Lena Slow Bear; nephews Trudell Slow Bear, Adrian Slow Bear, and Jonathan Slow Bear; and nieces Annette & Marysue Slow Bear, Linda Carol Thunder Hawk, and Melissa Slow Bear.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Slow Bear Sr, Andrew Slow Bear III, Perry Crow, Trudell Slow Bear Jr, Donovan Kills Small, Albert Brave J, Stephen Kills Small, and Benjamin “BJ” Plenty Arrows.
