High Plains Band And Choir Festival Wraps Up With Free 5:00 Concert

The 51st Chadron State College High Plains Band and Choir Festival wraps up tonight with a free concert at 5:00 in Memorial Hall.

This year’s Festival brought to campus over 100 of the top high school vocalists and instrumentalists from around the region for two days of rehearsals and clinics.

Chadron State Director of Bands John Wojcik is the clinician/conductor for the Festival Band while Dr Marcela Molina, executive director of the Tucson Girls Chorus and a board member of Chorus America, is the guest clinician/conductor for the Chorus.

CSC Dean of Liberal Arts Dr Jim Margetts says the longevity of the Festival is a testament to the shared vision of its founders and all those who have participated throughout the years.

Margetts says “many participants are following in the footsteps of older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents who’ve taken part over the years.”

He also says the Festival would have ended long ago without the support of hundreds of individual high school music teachers and their promotion of the values participation exemplifies – hard work, persistence, bravery, and a passion for excellence.
