Burial is at the Salway Family Cemetery in Allen, SD
A one-night wake service starts Sunday at noon at Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
James Alfred Richard Jr was born July 15, 1980 in Pine Ridge, SD to Cheryl Jealous of Him and James Richard Sr. James made his journey to the Spirit World on November 3, 2021 in Pine Ridge, SD.
James attended grade school at the Pierre Indian Learning Center and high school at Pine Ridge High School. He participated in Cross Country and got 1st place at the State “A” XC Meet in 1997. He also participated in wrestling and the Sacred Hoop 500 mile run.
James is survived by his parents, Cheryl Jealous of Him and James Richard Sr of Pine Ridge, SD; children, James A. Richard III, Raymond Richard-White Plume, and Deloni Richard-White Plume; siblings, Justes Scott of Pine Ridge, SD, Johnathon (Pam) Richard, Lonoke, AR, & Alexander Richard of Huron, SD, Edna “Squeak” Richard of Rapid City, SD, Kadell Richard of Pine Ridge, SD, Emma Richard and Annie Richard, both of Denver, CO, Dakota Richard of Rapid City, SD, and Brennan Cheyenne of Pukwana SD; grandparents, MaryAnn (Larry) Meester of Mesquite, NV, and Bertha Conroy of Batesland, SD; aunts & uncles, Marvin (Jacky) Richard, Sr., Bonnie Richard of Pine Ridge, SD, Wilma Richard of Potato Creek, SD, Wally Jealous of Him of Rapid City, SD, Diane Jealous of Him of Rapid City, SD, Faith Richard of Allen, SD and Iggy Jealous of Him of Porcupine, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas & Emma (Two Crow) Richard; maternal grandparents, Louis & Bessie (Rock) Jealous of Him; siblings, Dean Richard, Jamie Richard, and Jackie Richard; aunts & uncles, Carma (Neal) Fullen, Sandra (Bryan, Sr.) Blue Bird, Kadell Richard, Dale N. Richard, Douglas Richard, Ronnie Richard, Byron Richard, Debbie Jealous of Him, Sharon Clifford, Jonathon Twiss, Jon Red Hawk, and Joe “Joe Moe” Morrisette; cousins, Lonnie T. Richard, Brenda Blue Bird, Crystal Bell, Joni Twiss, and Mandy Twiss; and niece, Blanche Bell.
