Funeral services for 23-year old Justin Harvey are Sat, Feb 25, 2023 at 10:00 at the #9 Community Church in Manderson, SD, with Pastor Jeremy Mouw officiating.
Burial is at the Harvey Family Cemetery in Manderson.
A one-night wake service starts Friday, Feb 24, at 12:30 at the #9 Community Church.
Justin Lane Harvey (Oglala Watogla) (Wild Oglala) was born on a beautiful solstice morning, June 21, 1999 to mother, Deeann White Hawk and father, Thomas Harvey.
Justin grew up in White Horse Creek and Oglala Watogla was precocious from birth. He never crawled; one day he just rolled over and started walking and never slowed down until the end.
He attended Wounded Knee District School and completed 8th grade, then attended Pine Ridge High School and graduated in 2019.
Justin was a horse man; he took the Custer Flag during the horse races at Kiza Park and was involved in many Relay Races.
Justin is survived by his parents; hunka mother Anita Brown; his dad sister cousin Joann Tall; brothers Jacob, Thomas II, Inyan Black Elk, Cruz Romero, and Roland Chase Alone; sisters Neesha, Sarah, Rhianon, Larissa, Tonya, and Christina Eagle Hawk, and Dusti Rose Cedar Face.
Justin was preceded by his siblings Lawrence Harvey and La’Tanya Harvey; grandparents Edward and Irene (Hollow Horn) Harvey, Maria Chase Alone, Ernest White Hawk Jr, and many generations past that.
Pallbearers will be his best friends & siblings Rico Cortez, Daniel Villarreal, Eddie Jumping Eagle, William Jumping Eagle Jr, Jacob Harvey, Thomas Harvey, Tokala Black Elk, Geraldine Black Elk, Inyan Black Elk, Neesha Harvey , Sarah Harvey , Pete Left Hand, and all his siblings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cruz Gibbons, DJ Gibbons, Joseph “JJ” Pawnee Leggins Jr, Davis Ghost and All Friends & Relatives.
