Latest Chadron Art Alley Mural Underway

Artists rendering of mural

Chadron’s Art Alley Paint the Town community murals project begins its third year today as work starts on the west wall of Chadron Glass along the alley between 1st and 2nd Streets..

Chadron Chamber of Commerce Director Gabby Michna, one of the driving forces behind Art Alley, says 3 days of painting have been scheduled for the mural.

As always, everyone of all ages and art abilities (or non-abilities) is invited to come and help.

The previous Art Alley murals have focused on local and regional themes, but Michna says the Chadron Glass design tweaks that idea a fair amount.

The Art Alley murals are essentially giant paint-by-number works with the design projected onto the wall and outlined into segments with the appropriate colors identified.

Michna says the process for the Chadron Glass mural was completed by the lead artists yesterday.

Art Alley is one of the 70 sites on this year’s Nebraska Passport program. Those using the app version simply need to walk or drive past the murals to get their virtual stamp, but those needing a physical stamp get those at the nearby Bean Broker.
