The Chadron Police Department kept themselves busy this weekend with a variety of calls from hit and runs to loud parties that led to the issuing of MIPs.
The first of many calls for the Chadron Police Department was to Walmart. According to Chadron Police Chief Rick Hickstein, a little over $100 in meat products were attempted to be shoplifted. After collecting video surveillance footage, the subject was identified as 32 year old Allen Yellow Horse, who was issued a citation.
Also at Walmart in the parking lot, officers responded to a non-injury accident that occurred causing what Hickstein believes to be $5,000 worth of damage. Hickstein stated a vehicle driven by a juvenile appeared to have hit a light pole in the parking lot.
There was a loud party that was called in around 6:30 Saturday evening on the 600 block of Morehead Street. According to Hickstein, the reporting party reported people urinating in the alley and there was concern that some of the individuals involved appeared to be minors. After officers arrived, one individual was issued an MIP and two citations were written to the renters for disorderly house.
The last of many calls this weekend came from the intersection of HWY 385 and W 6th Street. Hickstein said a hit and run was called in, and officers were advised that a grey truck went into the median on the highway and took out a road sign. Officers retrieved the sign and attempted to locate the suspect vehicle but have not yet found it.
