Maggie Ann Running Bear was born on April 6, 1985 in Rapid City, SD to Robert Lee Running Bear and Rebecca Mercado. Maggie made her journey to the Spirit World on April 12, 2026 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Maggie is survived by her mother, Rebecca Mercado; children, DeAngelo Jones and Aiyana Jones; brothers, Albert Running Bear, Clifton DeSersa, Jr., and Trevor DeSersa; sisters, Zelda Running Bear, Zandra Running Bear, Rudee Mercado, Esther DeSersa, and Inez Gabe; aunts, Rose Lavoto, Susanna Mercado, Sophie Iron Horn, Brenda White Face, Gloria Mercado, Marsha Friday, Julie Jealous of Him, Carol Jealous of Him, and Wilma Jealous of Him; uncles, Larry Mercado, Haroldean Running Bear, and Melvin Running Bear; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Maggie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Running Bear, Sr.; brother, Robert Running Bear, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Cecelia White Dress-Frazier and Larry Mercado; paternal grandparents, Richard & Zelda Running Bear; aunt, Cindy Mercado; and uncles, Roger Running Bear and Pat Running Bear.
Pallbearers will be Clarence “Gus” Rouillard, Otta Gay, Jaxon Eagle Bull, Michael Seminole, Jacolby Running Bear, Richard Friday, Kazadi Mukoma, Jr., and Johnny Means.
Honorary pallbearers will be all her beloved Friends, Family, & Relatives.
Wake Services: Two night wake services with the first night starting at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle, SD and the second night starting at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD with evening services starting each night at 7:00 PM
Funeral Services: 12:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD
