After a two-year hiatus, the Chadron State College International Club will host its annual Food Tasting Party Saturday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

At the event, international students prepare dishes from their countries and guests are able to sample each dish. Menu items will represent India, Nigeria, Senegal, Philippines, Mexico, Germany, and Kenya, according to club member Siddhant Shelke.

Cultural entertainment will also be provided. This year, the students will present a fashion show by modeling regalia and traditional clothing from their respective countries and host international trivia questions. Additionally, a photo booth will be provided so guests can take pictures with the International Club members.

The first Food Tasting Party was in 1985 and has taken place annually until 2019 when it was one of the last major events before campus closed due to COVID-19. Mercy Cash, Vice President of the International Club, said the event is popular in the community, and the club is excited to be able to host the Food Tasting Party this year.

“There is so much to learn about the people that you know. I think it’s fascinating to look into other people’s cultures and learn about the differences in foods people eat and we’re excited to be able to share those experiences with the community again this year,” Cash said.

Tickets may be purchased at the Mari Sandoz Center High Plains Heritage Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children and senior citizens. Children 5 years old and under will be admitted free. CSC students are admitted for free and can get tickets from International Club members with a student ID. The International Club will have a table set up in the Student Center Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. until Feb. 24.
