Pedestrian Killed In Rapid City

Loading

Rapid City Police say one person was killed Thursday night about 10:00 after being hit by a vehicle on a major street. Name and gender have not been released.

Police spokesman Brendyn Medina says witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling south on Haines Avenue when a pedestrian “darted into the roadway” and was hit.

An off-duty Rapid City firefighter had already started emergency first aid efforts before police arrived. An ambulance arrived and the victim was transported to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.

Medina says the preliminary investigation leads police to believe that neither speed or alcohol was a factor for the driver.

The crash remains under investigation by the Rapid City Police Department’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team
