Powerball Jackpot Up To $700-M; New “Double Play” Game Starts Sunday

Loading

Powerball hasn’t had a winner since November 21st, so the jackpot for tonight’s drawing is estimated at $700-million dollars – $375.7-million if the cash option is selected.

It’s the 6th largest in Poweball’s 3-decade history, but just the second-biggest in the past 3 months.

That’s because the last jackpot won was the biggest for Powerball or any other lottery, $2.04-billion dollars. There have been 32 consecutive Powerball drawings without a winner since then.

Nebraska Lottery Director Brian Rockey reminds players that the odds of winning the jackpot remain the same, 1 in 302.6-million, regardless of how big the jackpot is or how many tickets are sold.

There are prizes in addition to the jackpot based on how many numbers are matched, and starting tomorrow Nebraska Lottery players will have a chance to make those secondary prizes even bigger by purchasing Double Play.

It’s an add-on feature that offers another chance to match your Powerball number for cash prizes up to $10-million dollars. Double Play results have 5 white ball numbers and a Powerball number, but no Power Play multiplier.

Powerball and Powerball Double Play drawings are held 3 nights a week – Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday – between 9:30 and 9:40 MT.
