Funeral services for 46-year old Travis White Bear Claws are Tues, Feb 8, 2022 at 1:00 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen, SD, with Native American Church Spiritual Leader Thomas Lopez officiating.

Burial is at the Native American Church Cemetery in Allen

A two-night wake service starts Sunday, Feb 6, at 4:00 at the Allen CAP Office in Allen 

Travis Edward White Bear Claws was born on July 29, 1975 in Scottsbluff, NE to Bernadine Red Bear and Joseph “Lyle” White Bear Claws. Travis made his journey to the Spirit World on January 28, 2022 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Travis grew up in Allen, SD where he attended American Horse school, graduating 8th grade in 1989. He briefly attended Little Wound High School before finishing his education in 1997 at the Job Corps Center in Nemo, SD. 

Travis then moved to Sioux Falls, SD and held various jobs there. He moved to Madison, SD until his passing. Travis loved to play basketball and baseball when he wasn’t working.

Travis is survived by his parents, Bernadine Red Bear of Rapid City, SD and Joe White Bear Claws of Pine Ridge, SD; Glorianna White Bear Claws, Sean White Bear Claws, and Timothy and Jesse Saunsoci, All of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Nicole White Bear Claws of Rapid City, SD, Mary Jo Vallejo-LeBeaux of Thunder Valley, SD, and Monique White Bear Claws of Pine Ridge, SD; brothers, Christopher White Bear Claws of Rapid City, SD and Aaron White of Pine Ridge, SD; Hunka brothers, Verdell Primeaux of Mesa, AZ, and Myron Goode of Brighton, CO; and grandchildren, Ray Marks III of Sioux Falls, SD, and Ahline Henley of Sioux Falls, SD.

Travis was preceded in death by his son, Asher Saunsoci-White Bear Claws; and grandparents, Verdell Lyle White Bear Claw of Eagle Butte, SD, Phoebe Mae Hawk of Oglala, SD, Albert Red Bear, Sr. of Allen, SD, and Christine Crow Dog of Rosebud, SD.

Pallbearers will be Leland White Bear Claws, Willard Fool Bull, Jr., Heath Fool Bull, Nicholas White Bear Claws, Brandon Yellow Hawk, Shaler Lamont, Norman Red Bear, Jr., and Trevor Red Bear.

Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
