The Chadron High Track and Field team ventured over to Scottsbluff’s Bearcat Stadium Tuesday night with 17 athletes across 18 events in the Best in the West Invite.
The night for the Cardinals was highlighted by a pair of champions as sophomore Addie Gruver took first in long jump, setting a new school record of 18’3.25” in the process. Sophomore Gracie Calkins continued to raise eyebrows by running a time of 12:28.27 to win the 3200 by 15 seconds.
Gruver continued her incredible day with a second place finish in the 200 meter race as well as finishing fifth in triple jump. Hannah Sprock continued her incredible junior year, breaking her own school record with a throw of 40’1” to get third in shot put while getting fourth in discus. Alex Rasmussen ran a time of 48.60 in the 300 hurdles to get fourth while Beau Behrends posted a time of 5:53.03 to get fourth in the 1600 and a time of 2:47.12 to get 12th in the 800.
Vrasai Sayaloune got sixth with a throw of 112’ 3.5” in discus. Brynn Buskirk in the 3200 and Brooklyn Hoffman in the 100 meter hurdles brought home eighth place finishes while Mayci Sprock in shot put and Raylie Pourier in discus each brought home 10th place finishes.
The girls 4×100 relay team of Rylan Barry, Gruver, Hoffman and Rasmussen was third.
The highlight on the boys side was senior Conrad Kaminski who brought home a third place finish in the 1600 with a time of 4:44.33 and a fourth place finish in the 3200 with a time of 10:36.41. Trae Owsley got fourth in long jump. Kole Carnahan posted a time of 2:06.35 to get fifth in the 800. Reid Griese with a ninth place finish in long jump and Eliu Paopao got 10th in triple jump to round out the Cardinals lineup.
